Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember things — whether you're logged in, what language you prefer, that sort of thing. Some expire when you close your browser. Others stick around for months. None of them can give your computer a virus or access your files.
We try to keep it minimal. Here's what's running on veresen.com:
Strictly necessary cookies — These make the site work. Session identifiers, CSRF tokens, the cookie consent preference itself. You can't opt out of these because the site breaks without them. They don't track you or collect personal data.
Analytics cookies — We use a self-hosted analytics tool to understand which pages get traffic and where people drop off. The data is aggregated and anonymised. We don't tie page views to individual users. No data goes to third-party ad networks. If you decline cookies in the banner, these won't load.
Functional cookies — These remember your preferences between visits. Things like whether you've dismissed a notification or which timezone you selected for course schedules. They make the experience smoother but aren't required — the site works fine without them, you'll just see a few more prompts.
Stripe (our payment processor) sets its own cookies during checkout. These are necessary for processing card payments securely and fall under Stripe's own privacy policy. Google Fonts loads typefaces from Google's CDN, which may set a cookie — though modern browsers increasingly block this. We don't embed social media widgets, tracking pixels, or remarketing tags.
You can change your cookie preferences through the banner that appears on your first visit. If you've already dismissed it and want to change your mind, clearing your browser cookies for veresen.com will reset the banner.
Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Keep in mind that blocking all cookies may affect how the site works — particularly around login and checkout. Here's where to find cookie settings in common browsers: Chrome (Settings > Privacy > Cookies), Firefox (Settings > Privacy > Cookies), Safari (Preferences > Privacy).
If we start using new cookie categories or switch analytics providers, we'll update this page. The date at the top reflects when we last made changes.
If anything here is unclear, email [email protected]. We're not trying to hide anything behind legal language — if something reads that way, it's accidental and we'd like to fix it.
